USF coaches at free football clinic in Clearwater
The Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl is hosting a free half-day NCAA Football Youth Clinic for boys and girls ages 5 to 14 in Clearwater on July 15, and a handful of USF assistant coaches will be among those volunteering at the event.
Former Bulls quarterback Marquel Blackwell, now an offensive program assistant, will be at the clinic, as will offensive graduate assistant Steve Bird, who helps coach the Bulls' running backs. Joe Sloan, another program assistant who came to USF with Skip Holtz last year, is also scheduled to participate, as is defensive graduate assistant Byron Thomas and former Bulls defensive back Glenn Davis, who is a defensive program assistant.
The event is scheduled for the Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex, across the street from Bright House Field in Clearwater. Kids participating will have the chance to work with college football coaches and players, run offensive, defensive and agility drills and learn proper techniques to promote on-field safety. Registration is open for the event -- visit ncaafootballclinics.com or call (727) 290-9865.
