USF football at No. 21 in new SI.com poll
Technically, it's just "also receiving votes," as USF football is in the AP, coaches and Harris national polls this week. But the Bulls have a higher national ranking in a new "top 16" poll from SI.com, which takes votes from 14 writers and editors from the magazine and website to create a potential 16-team playoff field.
USF misses the cut for such a playoff, but the Bulls got enough votes to finish 21st in the balloting, ahead of traditionally ranked teams like Georgia, Penn State and Kansas.
USF's win Saturday at Florida State was its fifth straight against ranked opponents, and now the Bulls have the challenge of winning as a road favorite. USF is a nine-point favorite at Syracuse, which is 2-2 and coming off back-to-back wins. Lots more notes to come ...
-- The Orlando Sentinel's Mike Bianchi does a Stud and Dud of the week online, and USF quarterback B.J. Daniels is leading the voting for stud of the week; FSU's offensive coaches are leading the dud voting.
