USF football ... in the Rose Bowl? See for yourself
It's always fun to see USF football make a showing in the pop-culture things that show a level of national familiarity, and you can see that again in a split-second cameo in the "sizzle" video to preview the release of EA Sports' "NCAA Football 12" video game.
The two-minute video has quick snippets from all over college football -- I logged 29 different schools making an appearance, with USC getting five separate shots and Georgia and Georgia Tech (?) getting four each. There's only a few nods to the Big East -- future member TCU has three shots, Syracuse has one, and the very last shot of the video has USF ... coming out of the tunnel at the Rose Bowl.
It's technically possible if the Bulls won the Big East, though you have to think the BCS folks would rather keep them closer to home in Miami or New Orleans if possible, remembering the $1.7-million bath Connecticut took on its last bowl trip to Tempe.
Anyway, the shot shows six nameless Bulls running out to fireworks in Pasadena -- I suppose No. 7 could be Ryne Giddins, but it's surely meant to be QB B.J. Daniels, with receiver Evan Landi behind him. Walk-on receiver Stephen Bravo-Brown sees his No. 80, as do offensive linemen Damien Edwards (73) and Mark Popek (74). There's a dreadlocked No. 5 -- that's probably supposed to be A.J. Love, but hasn't had those in a while and hasn't worn No. 5 since at least 2009.
Here's the video -- get ready to pause and rewind, but enjoy ...
