USF history: Two league road wins in one day
We don't have to explain to Bulls fans how rare road Big East basketball wins have been for USF. But when USF's men's team earned its first road win of the season with an 86-76 victory, just two hours after the USF women earned a rare Big East road win at Villanova, we wondered when the last time was both Bulls teams won conference games on the road in the same day.
The answer? Never. In USF's basketball history, through all their seasons in the Big East, Conference USA, the Metro and the Sun Belt, USF has never had both basketball teams win conference games on the road on the same day. Keep in mind, there aren't that many opportunities to do this, with schedules that rarely overlap to set up such a combination.
USF had 18 previous opportunities with both teams on the road on the same day -- there had been eight since USF joined the Big East in 2005-06 -- but never before had the Bulls get two road wins. Last year, it nearly happened twice -- the men won in overtime at Providence on Jan. 23, but the women's team lost, and then on Feb. 13, the women won at Seton Hall, but the men lost at Marquette.
