USF men leave Vegas as big winners again

Who says you can't leave Las Vegas with nothing but big wins? USF's men's basketball team picked up its second win in as many days, pulling away to a 69-60 victory against San Diego to improve to 10-2, surpassing last season's victory total.

The Bulls got 19 points from senior guard Mike Mercer and another 18 from junior Dominique Jones, and USF rallied back from an eight-point deficit early in the second half. You can check out the game stats here and we'll have a story from Las Vegas shortly. USF's 10-2 record is the Bulls' best after 12 games in 18 seasons, since doing the same in the 1992-93 season -- USF went 11-1 in 1990-91 and 1982-83.

USF's women weren't as lucky, leading with a minute to play but ultimately dropping a 63-60 loss to East Carolina, the Bulls' second home loss to a Conference USA team in the past four days. At 8-4, the Bulls have their worst record after 12 games since the 2003-04 season, when USF went 14-15.
