USF men's hoops picked 14th in Big East

It's a tiny amount of progress in the right direction for USF basketball, which has been picked to finish 14th in the preseason vote of the league's coaches.

Villanova edged West Virginia as the coaches' preseason favorite, with the Wildcats getting 10 first-place votes and the Mountaineers getting five. The Bulls finished ahead of Rutgers and DePaul, though coach Stan Heath is optimistic his team can show considerably more improvement in his third season at USF.

USF junior guard Dominique Jones did not make the six-player All-Big East preseason first team, but was selected to the second team. Notre Dame's Luke Harangody was the preseason Player of the Year, and you can read about the rest of the preseason selections here.

The Bulls had been picked by Big East coaches to finish last in each of their first four seasons in the conference. Here's what we wrote about last year's preseason picks.
