USF men's soccer, which won a Big East championship on its home field last fall, has been picked to finish second in its division behind national preseason No. 1 St. John's in the league's preseason poll of its coaches.

The Bulls are in for a dogfight in the Big East's Red Division, with St. John's getting 13 of 16 first-place votes, USF getting one and third-place Louisville, which had one fewer vote-point than the Bulls, getting two first-place votes.

USF reached the NCAA's Elite Eight last season, but loses some key members, including Jordan Seabrook and Yohance Marshall, both now playing professionally in the U.S., and midfielder Kevon Neaves. The Bulls return their No. 2 scorer from 2008 in senior Zak Boggs and goalkeeper Jeff Attinella among others, and bring in a recruiting class ranked No. 11 in the country by College Soccer News.

USF opens its season Monday with an exhibition at USF Soccer Stadium at 7:30 against the University of Tampa, with another home exhibition Aug. 27 against Stetson. The regular season starts Sept. 1 at home against Central Florida.
