USF ranked: No. 23 in AP, 24 in coaches

Off to a 5-0 start for the third year in a row, USF has shown enough that the Bulls are ranked for the first time this season, debuting at No. 23 in the Associated Press and No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

USF's next opponent, Cincinnati, is up to No. 8 in the AP rankings. If USF still wants the motivation of feeling slighted, the Bulls can know that of the 13 unbeaten teams left in Division I-A football, only Wisconsin is ranked lower in both polls.

USF is also ranked No. 24 in this week's Harris Poll, which is used in calculating the BCS rankings.

-- There's one less former Bulls player in the NFL, as the Colts cut running back Chad Simpson on Sunday.
