USF softball plays two at Louisville on ESPNU

Big day for USF softball, which has first place in the Big East on the line and a national TV audience as the Bulls play a doubleheader at Louisville starting at 4 p.m. today.

USF (40-6, 13-1 in Big East) and Louisville (38-2, 9-2) are the Big East's two ranked teams -- in the RPI, it's Louisville 11, USF 19; in the Softball rankings, it's Louisville 9, USF 17, and in the NFCA Coaches' Poll, it's Louisville 11, USF 17.

Softball legend Jennie Finch will be part of ESPNU's broadcast team, and you can expect a pitchers' duel, with USF's Sara Nevins (23-2, 0.74 ERA) likely squaring off with Louisville's Tori Collins (18-1, 1.11).

And before the game starts, you can read this story from today's Times, about the way USF senior catcher Laura Fountain went out of her way to befriend St. John's outfielder Summer Comstock, who broke both bones in her lower right leg in an outfield collision in a game at USF just before Easter and spent the next 11 days in a Tampa hospital.
