USF splits vs. Big Ten in opening fall weekend
The weekend before the start of the fall semester saw three USF teams face off against Big Ten programs, highlighted by men's soccer rallying for a 2-1 victory over Michigan before a regular-season record crowd announced as 3,076 fans att Corbett Stadium.
Trailing 1-0 in the second half, the Bulls scored twice in less than a minute, the second on a rebound by Palm Harbor's Ben Sweat off a blocked penalty kick. Women's soccer, playing at Indiana, got a solid 3-0 win with two more goals from Sharla Passariello -- she has three in three games, after scoring three in preseason. And volleyball, playing their first match under new head coach Courtney Draper, lost at home in three games to Wisconsin.
