USF women doff Hatters, 86-44
USF (3-2) bounced back from a 25-point loss to Illinois State with an easy 86-44 win over Stetson (1-4), drawing a relatively strong announced crowd of 736 to the Sun Dome. The Bulls, who beat Stetson by 43 last season, jumped out to a 14-0 lead and never looked back.
Four Bulls scored in double figures, led by center Jessica Lawson, who scored 20, and just as impressively, had just one turnover in 25 minutes. Guard Shantia Grace had 18 points and five assists with zero turnovers in 31 minutes. Porche Grant had a double-double off the bench, getting 10 points and 12 rebounds, and Caitlyn Mitryk had 10 points.
It's worth noting that USF's women's basketball players and staff will be at the Metropolitan Ministiries on North Florida Avenue from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday to hand out food to needy families as Thanksgiving approaches. USF has a week off and next plays on Nov. 29 at Florida International.
