USF women picked to finish 9th in Big East
USF women's basketball, which went 8-8 in conference play last season to finish ninth in the Big East, has been picked to finish in the same spot in the preseason vote of league coaches announced Thursday.
Connecticut was picked as the league's preseason favorite, getting 12 first-place votes to keep ahead of last year's national runner-up, Notre Dame, whose star Skylar Diggins is the league's preseason player of the year. USF didn't have any players among the 13 honored on the preseason All-Big East team and honorable mentions.
USF coach Jose Fernandez is in New York today for Big East media day, along with twin guards Andrea and Andrell Smith and guard Inga Orekhova, who will combine to give the Bulls one of the conference's most dangerous backcourts.
