USF's Genshaft joins NCAA board of directors
Less than four years after the Bulls joined the Big East, USF President Judy Genshaft has joined the NCAA Board of Directors and will represent the conference there for the next two years.
"We are very fortunate to have a leader with the passion, talent and initiative of President Genshaft," athletic director Doug Woolard said in a statement. "Her appointment will pay dividends within our University, the Big East and throughout the NCAA membership."
Genshaft, who has been USF's president since July 2000, was recommended and appointed at the board's quarterly meeting on April 30 in Indianapolis. She will be eligible for reappointment when her terms ends in July 2011.
The board of directors is comprised of school presidents or chancellors from 18 Division I conferences. Genshaft is one of two current board members from the state of Florida, joining Florida Atlantic President Frank Brogan, and is one of three female board members, along with Memphis president Shirley Raines and Weber State president F. Ann Millner.
