USF's Jones, Lawson sweep Big East honors
USF guard Dominique Jones has been named Big East player of the week after leading the Bulls to wins against Seton Hall and Pittsburgh and averaging 32.5 points in the two wins. And to complete the sweep, USF senior center Jessica Lawson earned the Big East's women's honor after getting 22 points and 12 rebounds in a win at Cincinnati on Saturday.
Jones also had a school-record 46 points the week before in an overtime win at Providence, giving him an average of 37.0 points per game during USF's three-game winning streak. Lawson now leads the Big East with 11 double-doubles this season.
It's the second week in a row Jones has earned the Big East honor and the third time this season. It's the second time for Lawson, who was also honored by the conference in mid-December.
