USF's Seabrook hoping for another shot at MLS
Less than a month after being selected in the MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids, former USF standout Jordan Seabrook is back in Tampa and exploring his options for starting his professional career.
"They just had so many players," said Seabrook, one of four fourth-round picks by Colorado. "What they were willing to offer was a development position, but that probably wasn't my best option."
Seabrook said he hopes to land in a preseason camp with the United Soccer Leagues, which are less established than MLS but would give him more of an opportunity for playing time with the hopes of returning to an MLS roster for next year's preseason. The USL will add the Tampa Bay Rowdies as an expansion team in 2010.
While Seabrook is out, another former USF standout, passed over in last month's draft, remains hopeful of sticking around a little longer. Yohance Marshall is in camp with the Los Angeles Galaxy, but still faces long odds as one of 35 players competing for 24 spots on the Galaxy's in-season roster.
Former USF players Jeff Cunningham and Anthony Wallace remain on roster with FC Dallas.
