USF's Selvie a finalist for Nagurski Trophy
USF sophomore defensive end George Selvie, leading the nation with 14.5 sacks and 30.5 tackles for loss, is one of five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, given to the top defensive player in college football. He's the first USF player to be named a finalist for a national college football award.
By being named as a finalist, Selvie is also revealed as a member of the 11-man All-America defensive team as selected by the Football Writers Association of America. Selvie will attend the Nagurski Trophy banquet on Dec. 3, hosted by the Charlotte Touchdown Club.
The other four finalists are Ohio State linebacker James Laurinaitis, who won the Nagurski last year; LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, Virginia defensive end Chris Long and Kansas defensive back Aqib Talib.
