Walk-on Darr gets hardship waiver
USF's uncanny ability to get hardship waivers for NCAA Division I-A transfers continued Tuesday, as walk-on linebacker Lucas Darr, N.C. State's scout team MVP last fall, was granted a waiver allowing him to play for the Bulls this fall.
Darr, who played at Clearwater Countryside, is expected to contribute on special teams. He's the sixth player granted a hardship waiver in the past year, joining guard Ryan Schmidt (Kansas State), defensive tackle Julian Riley (Florida) and linebacker Marvin Peoples (Maryland) from last season and linebacker Tyrone McKenzie (Iowa State) and running back Jamar Taylor (Alabama) this fall.
