Walk-on Sitton transferring to smaller school
Trying not to neglect football while I'm up here at Big East basketball -- today is USF's final practice before a 12-day hiatus over spring break, and we should be getting the names of 16 new spring walk-ons later this afternoon.
But there is one roster transaction I've been meaning to report since last week -- Jonny Sitton, the walk-on running back who briefly held the punt return job last season, is no longer with the team and transferring to a smaller school. Sitton, an Indian Rocks Christian graduate who was a soccer standout in high school, returned three punts for 29 yards as a redshirt freshman. Just 5-foot-7 and 165 pounds, he'll have a chance to make a bigger impact at a smaller level and should have three years of eligibility at the I-AA level.
A few other walk-ons from last season that we've mentioned here are no longer on roster, including kicker Renato Proia, who joined the team from a tryout of soccer players in 2009; linebacker Matt Milk, who had a tackle against Stony Brook last year; and receiver Bermanley Augustin.
