Where Are They Now: Walk-on Sitton at Shorter

We like to say this is the blog of record for all things related to USF football walk-ons, even after they cease to be USF football walk-ons, so it's with a smile that we report that former Bulls walk-on Jonny Sitton, a 5-foot-7 soccer star at Indian Rocks Christian who briefly held USF's punt return job last season, has landed at Shorter University, an NAIA program in Rome, Ga. ... (rim shot).

Sitton will play slotback for the Hawks, who hook him up with two trips home to Florida this season, opening at Webber International (kind of near Lakeland) and playing in Jacksonville at Edward Waters in late October. Sitton had three punt returns for 29 yards last year, jumping in after the end of the Faron Hornes administration and just before the Bulls turned to Terrence Mitchell, who earned Freshman All-American honors as a returner.

Sitton is reunited with two IRC teammates at Shorter, linebacker Tyler Gattuso and defensive lineman Darius Sabbides. We'll be surprised if his speed at that level doesn't turn into plays we're linking to later this season. ...
