Women's attendance on the rise

February

Tuesday night's USF women's game against Connecticut, which will feature the biggest home crowd ever for a Bulls women's game, will lift USF's average home attendance over 1,000 for the season.

And if, as expected, Tuesday's attendance is more than 4,000 fans, USF will boast the second-largest crowd to see Connecticut play a road game in the Big East this season, trailing only the 11,716 fans who saw the Huskies play St. John's in Madison Square Garden last month. The road crowds in league play for UConn:

St. John's     11,716

Marquette     4,000

Cincinnati     2,837

Providence     2,565

Georgetown     1,143

West Virginia     806

I'm presuming the Bulls will also get a strong crowd for their final home game against Seton Hall, which is senior night for Bulls standout Jessica Dickson, as well as fellow starters Nalini Miller and Rachael Sheats. Even if the Bulls finished right at 1,000 fans for the average home crowd, that would rank them 10th in the Big East, up from 13th last season, and it would mark a 60 percent increase from last season's average attendance. (Obviously having UConn one season and not the other skews the numbers, but even without the Huskies' total in there, the Bulls would be drawing about 30 percent more than last season.)
