Women's soccer awaits NCAA news today
USF's women's soccer team fell short in Sunday's Big East championship match, falling 1-0 to West Virginia, but the Bulls could get good news this afternoon as the NCAA field of 64 is announced.
The Bulls (13-5-3) finished the season strong, winning six matches in a row before the West Virginia loss, including Big East tournament wins against top-20 RPI teams in Georgetown and Marquette. The Bulls had an RPI of 38 before the last two wins, putting them in strong position to land an at-large bid -- and the first NCAA appearance in the program's history.
SoccerAmerica.com has projected the NCAA field, and the site has USF as one of six Big East teams that make the NCAA cut. The selection show will be broadcast on ESPNU at 4:30 p.m., and the opening round is set for Friday.
