WR Erskin lost for season with third torn ACL
USF senior receiver Colby Erskin, a former walk-on who earned a scholarship and battled back from two tears to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, has torn the ACL in his right knee and will miss the rest of the 2009 season.
Erskin, from Seminole, injured his right knee on Wednesday in preparation for Thursday's 34-17 loss to No. 8 Cincinnati. In four games this season, he had two catches for 13 yards and one 28-yard kickoff return, while collecting three tackles on special teams.
Erskin is not eligible for a medical redshirt this season, but because he missed the 2005 and 2007 seasons with injuries, he could be eligible for a sixth year if he sought to make a third return from ACL surgery.
