Yes, it's snowing for Bulls, Huskies
Greetings from East Hartford, where my ears are just starting to get feeling again after a walk around Rentschler Field from my parking spot to the media entrance for tonight's USF-Connecticut football game.
There's a good snow falling right now -- my understanding is this is the first snow of the winter -- and the football field is just starting to be powdered white. With another 90 minutes until kickoff, the Bulls could be making snow angels by the time the game begins.
I've talked today with the executive directors of all three bowls reasonably in play for USF -- in St. Petersburg, Birmingham and Toronto -- and none of them are in attendance tonight, so I don't think you'll get a formal invitation for the Bulls, win or lose, until Sunday afternoon.
With West Virginia accepting a bid to the Gator Bowl, all three bowls are waiting for Charlotte to make its pick -- my instinct is that will be Pittsburgh over Rutgers -- and then they can fill out the rest of the Big East lineup.
SNOW UPDATE: One hour before kickoff, the snow is laying thick enough that players walking on the field are leaving footprints behind them. Bulls are in white jerseys, white pants, gold helmets, so they'll fit in nicely with the field ... As for injuries, there are three Bulls taking snaps in one end zone -- starter Sampson Genus, who has an ankle injury, backup Kevin McCaskill and guard Jeremiah Warren. ...
