Five guys who could join Charlie Strong's staff
Now that Charlie Strong appears set to become the fourth football coach in USF history, here's an early look at some prospects for his inaugural Bulls staff.
Shaun King: The first-year Bulls quarterbacks coach, who has done some acclaimed work with Quinton Flowers, is believed to be good friends with Strong. Would seem natural for Strong to keep King aboard, especially with Flowers entering his senior season.
Brian Jean-Mary: A former Apopka High teammate of Warren Sapp, Jean-Mary served as Strong's linebackers coach/recruiting coordinator the last three seasons, helping UT land a consensus top-12 national signing class in 2016. He's the only member of Strong's original UT staff still in the same position when Strong was fired.
Pat Moorer: A former SEC All-Freshman linebacker at the University of Florida in the late 1980s (when Strong was Gators linebackers coach), Moorer served as Strong's strength and conditioning coach at Louisville and Texas. A Pensacola Escambia alumnus, he seems another shoe-in to join Strong in Tampa.
David Reaves: Strong and Reaves worked together for one season (2002) at South Carolina, when Reaves was a Gamecocks graduate-assistant. His knowledge of the Gulf Coast offense clearly would help smooth the coaching transition at USF, but Willie Taggart may want Reaves in Oregon.
T.J. Weist: See Reaves. Only difference being, Weist and Strong never have worked on the same staff.
