Former USF center Jaleel Cousins arrested
Former USF C Jaleel Cousins was arrested early Thursday morning following an altercation in a south Tampa bar.
Cousins, 22, was booked on misdemeanor charges of battery and resisting an officer without violence. He was released at 8:21 a.m. on $1,000 bond, according to public records.
TMZ obtained video footage of what is believed to be the incident. Cousins' older brother, Sacramento Kings star DeMarcus Cousins, reportedly also was at the bar.
A Tampa Police Department arrest affidavit redacts the location of the arrest, but the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrest report lists it as 302 S. Howard Ave., site of The Drynk nightclub. After a verbal altercation among several subjects, Cousins was observed striking another patron with a closed fist, leading to a fight between the two, according to the arrest affidavit.
Cousins refused several verbal commands by a law-enforcement officer to stop fighting, and subsequently was struck with a Tazer, the affidavit states.
A junior college transfer, Cousins played the past two seasons for the Bulls, averaging 8.5 points and a team-high 7.9 rebounds this past season.
