USF men's basketball fans breathed a welcome sigh of relief on Wednesday, with news that two key members of Stan Heath's much-heralded recruiting class -- freshman center John Egbunu and junior point guard Corey Allen -- have been cleared by the NCAA and will start fall classes next week.

Egbunu, a national top-100 recruit, could be an immediate starter at center, combining with sophomore Zach LeDay and freshman Chris Perry for a major upgrade in the Bulls' frontcourt. Allen is in position to be the top backup to junior Anthony Collins, bringing versatility and another scoring threat to the USF backcourt.

Heath has been stung by bad late-summer news in recent years -- last season, he had to play without coveted junior college center Waverly Austin, who was deemed ineligible at USF and wound up enrolling at Oregon.

In all, Heath has a six-man recruiting class -- Egbunu, Perry, Allen, Orlando forward Dre Clayton, Michigan guard Bo Zeigler and his son, Josh, a point guard from Tampa Prep.
