Nevins honored as Big East Pitcher of the Year
On the night before USF begins as host of the Big East tournament, Bulls junior Sara Nevins was honored as the league's Pitcher of the Year after posting a conference-best 1.06 ERA this season.
Nevins, a left-hander from Pinellas Park, takes a 22-7 overall record into Thursday's opening-round game against Providence. She also was a unanimous selection to the All-Big East first team, as was Bulls junior shortstop Kourtney Salvarola. Senior third baseman Kenshyra Jackson was a second-team selection, and senior pitcher Lindsey Richardson, who had a 0.82 ERA to lead the Big East in conference play, made the third team.
USF, playing host to the Big East tournament between Thursday and Saturday, opens Thursday at 6:30 p.m. against Providence.
