Notes: Taggart to speak at Capogna's on Saturday

USF football players report for preseason camp on Sunday, but you can get a dose of Willie Taggart a day earlier -- he's expected to make an appearance at the 8th annual Pinellas preseason tailgate at Capogna's Dugout in Clearwater.

It's a great event -- find more information here -- and yes, that's the same Capogna as former USF center Nick, and before him, brother Vinny.

-- This is probably worth a headline in itself, but the Chase Litton-USF breakup is quite official now. Here's our story, explaining that Litton felt like USF was using him to lure other recruits to campus, and then there's a tweet from him explaining that he is no longer considering USF and vice versa. Well then ...

-- We'll do more on this later, but former USF point guard Chris Howard is back with the Bulls, joining Stan Heath's staff as his new director of basketball operations. Howard was around last year's team quite a bit, and knows Heath's system well from his playing days. Heath's staff is now complete, with Howard joining full-time assistants Steve Roccaforte, Mike Wells and Donnie Marsh.

-- USF has filled one administrative opening, hiring Penn State's Brian Siegrist as associate athletic director for communications. He'll be USF's new football SID, taking over for Jeremy Sharpe, who is leaving to be an associate AD at Arizona. Doug Woolard still needs to hire a senior associate athletic director to replace Bill McGillis, who is leaving to be athletic director at Southern Miss.

-- Make it 20 former USF players in NFL training camps, as former Bulls guard Danous Estenor has signed with the Colts.
