Relax, Bulls fans: Anchors away for Vandy

Attention, Bulls fans: You may stand down.

There will be no more "Anchor Down."

That two-word mantra sewn on the backs of Vanderbilt's jerseys in the Commodores' season opener Thursday is going away. Just like USF's thwarted attempts to replace last names with "The Team" on Bulls jerseys, Vandy has been informed it's not permitted by NCAA uniform guidelines.

But why did the Commodores get away with it Thursday? A simple miscommunication per various media reports. But the bottom line is, the school has been informed it faces penalties -- specifically, a timeout per quarter -- if it keeps wearing the jerseys.

Then again, in the wake of a 37-7 home loss to Temple, game-day attire is probably the least of the Commodores' concerns.
