Report: FAU's Corey Bell to join Strong at USF
Former FAU assistant Corey Bell will be named USF cornerbacks coach, 247Sports reported late Tuesday evening.
The report cited no sources. USF is expected to formally announce some hirings to new coach Charlie Strong's staff within the next day or two.
A Miami native and South Carolina alumnus, Bell would fortify Strong's south Florida recruiting connections. He attended Miami's Edison High and spent 11 years as coach of his alma mater, beginning at age 25. Edison, 0-10 the year before Bell's arrival, made five consecutive playoff appearances on his watch.
He later spent four seasons (2007-10) as University of Miami's director of football operations. After another three-year prep stint, as coach at Miami's American Senior High, he moved to FAU as secondary coach in 2014.
