Salvarola adds power as Bulls host Big East tourney

USF softball plays host to the Big East tournament over the next three days, starting with four games on Thursday, and as the Bulls enter another postseason with high expectations, we take a closer look at junior shortstop Kourtney Salvarola, who has a team-best 13 home runs this season.

The Bulls (40-14) leaned heavily on their pitching in last year's run to the College World Series, but improved power from players like Salvarola, Kenshyra Jackson and Stephanie Medina could help the Bulls as they seek a Big East title. The Bulls have the No. 2 seed in the tournament, opening Thursday at 6:30 or so against a Providence team they outscored 23-0 this season in a three-game sweep. Stay tuned for more ...
