Shaun King likely to stay on at USF
Though official news of USF's overhauled coaching staff keeps arriving in trickles, it's appearing likely quarterbacks coach Shaun King will be the lone holdover from the Willie Taggart regime.
The Tampa Bay Times learned King was in the Selmon Athletics Center on Thursday, when Sterlin Gilbert formally was announced as new Bulls offensive coordinator and Coach Charlie Strong held his inaugural offensive staff meeting.
No official confirmation has arrived regarding King, but a source told the Times all signs point to the former Bucs and Gibbs High standout being retained.
At this point, Gilbert is the only staffer whose hiring officially has been announced. Various online reports indicate former Texas offensive line coach Matt Mattox, former FAU secondary coach Corey Bell and veteran college/NFL offensive assistant Charlie Williams also will join Strong at USF.
King just wrapped up his first year on the Bulls staff, helping Quinton Flowers evolve into the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
