Signatures arriving fast and furiously for USF
To shamelessly rip off an old U.S. Army slogan, Willie Taggart and his staff have achieved more before 9 a.m. than most people will accomplish all day.
Before the morning fog cleared from most of the bay area, USF already had received 28 letters of intent, including at least three from those who kept their intentions shrouded until Wednesday.
The newest, previously non-committed signees: Sickles OLB/DE Josh Black, Jesuit LB Vincent Jackson and Immokalee RB D'Ernest Johnson. Niceville WR Tyre McCants, who reportedly got a Georgia offer Tuesday night, also sealed his USF commitment with his signature.
By day's end, Taggart is expected to finish with the consensus No. 1 class in the American Athletic Conference and among the top 45 nationally. Six members of the HomeTeam top 25, a ranking of the bay area's top graduating seniors, have sent letters to Taggart this morning.
His sales pitch for a program coming off a 2-10 season?
"Building a dream team here in Florida," said East Lake DB Devin Abraham, an early enrollee who attended the Eagles' ceremony. "Being part of something new and part of something that's going to be pretty great."
