A women's hoops showdown that needs no excess hype just got a little more, courtesy of the Associated Press poll.

Sunday afternoon's matchup between No. 22 USF and top-ranked Connecticut will be the first Huskies-Bulls contest at the Sun Dome in which both teams are ranked, and only the second home game in school history -- men's or women's -- featuring two ranked teams.

The other top-25 encounter: Last season's NCAA Tournament second-rounder, when the No. 25 Bulls women lost to No. 8 Louisville, 60-52.

USF (8-3, 1-0 American Athletic Conference) slipped two spots to 22nd in the latest poll after a 10-point loss to No. 7 Mississippi State followed by Saturday's 61-59 victory at East Carolina. The Huskies (11-0, 1-0) defeated then-No. 6 Maryland 83-73 at Madison Square Garden last week, and crushed Cincinnati 107-45 two nights later.

The contest represents the nightcap of a doubleheader that opens with the Bulls men facing Cincinnati at noon. The allure of a top-25 matchup and a UConn fan base that travels well could result in a record crowd Sunday. The largest home audience in USF women's history was the 6,615 who witnessed UConn's 63-38 triumph on Feb. 16, 2014.
