Five quick reads in the remaining hours before USF faces Syracuse in the Carrier Dome:

1. Starting striker Khalid McGee (ankle) didn't make the trip, meaning sophomore Nate Ferguson or senior Nate Godwin likely starts in his place. Another Bull who had been nursing an injured ankle, DT Bruce Hector, is on the travel roster, but his mom has indicated in a text message he's still in Tampa undergoing treatment.

2. No. 3 QB Asiantii Woulard (foot) didn't make the trip, meaning freshman Chris Oladokun is the Bulls' emergency quarterback today.

3. Here's the Syracuse Post-Standard's extensive game preview (Spoiler alert: A sparse Orange homecoming crowd is anticipated).

4. At least three 'Cuse defensive backs -- FS Antwan Cordy, CB Juwan Dowels and redshirt senior CB Wayne Morgan -- already are on the shelf. Not a terribly promising omen for a team that surrendered more than 800 yards last week to Louisville.

5. If you see a No. 83 returning punts for USF, it's Darnell Salomon. He'll switch from his normal number (3) for special-teams work only.
