USF ticket sales for Birmingham Bowl at 3,200
USF announced Monday evening it has distributed 3,200 of its 10,000 allotted tickets for Thursday afternoon's Birmingham Bowl, representing a mild dropoff from last season's bowl excursion.
But it's an apples-oranges comparison.
The Bulls distributed more than 5,000 tickets for the 2015 Miami Beach Bowl, within reasonable driving distance for many USF fans. Additionally, Coach Willie Taggart covered the cost of 500 student tickets (offered at a reduced rate of $20 in a deal with USF's student government).
This year's game is 570 miles from USF's campus.
Meantime, South Carolina's tickets aren't exactly selling briskly. The State newspaper of Columbia (S.C.) reported last week the Gamecocks had sold 3,000 of their allotted 7,500 tickets.
Green-and-gold procrastinators still interested in attending Thursday's contest at Legion Field can get tickets here.
