USF's Troy Holston injures knee again, out indefinitely
USF announced Thursday that redshirt junior SG Troy Holton Jr. remains out indefinitely after undergoing surgery last month on his left knee.
Holston suffered a torn left ACL in the summer of 2015, causing him to miss the 2015-16 season. The school's news release didn't clarify if the latest injury was another tear.
“Disappointments like this are never easy,” USF coach Brian Gregory said in the release. "However, the surgery was a success and Troy, like we anticipated, is attacking his daily rehab with great intensity.
"Troy had a tremendous spring and summer, preparing for what we believed was going to be a special junior campaign. I am positive that he will make a full recovery and come back stronger and better than ever."
Gregory, who put the Bulls through their sixth preseason practice Thursday, didn't address Holston's injury during his pre-practice session with reporters.
Holston, who starred at Wharton High and Oldsmar Christian, averaged a career-best 9.7 points last season, leading the team in 3-pointers (54).
