For Harris, a Case of Bad Timing
Well, it's true, but Bush's refusal to go to a Dec. 5 Harris event requires context. The governor told reporters the Tallahassee event falls on the first day of a week-long special legislative session, and Bush is a long-standing critic of legislators using those weeks to raise money.
"I have been asked, and I can't do it the day that I've been asked to do it because that's the day the special session starts," Bush said. "I just don't believe it's appropriate ... I have not been involved in fund-raising during special sessions."
Bush dismissed concerns in GOP circles that Harris' awful poll numbers could be a drag on the ticket next year. "It's way early," Bush said. "Florida politics plays out at the end."
Will he campaign with Harris later on? "Yeah, sure," Bush said, without further elaboration. It didn't sound like a ringing endorsement, but Harris surely will take it. In a Happy Thanksgiving memo to supporters Wednesday, Harris said of her rocky start: "There have been some bumps on the road, but we have turned a new corner."
In another bit of irony, Harris' fund-raiser falls on the same night that Bush has another commitment, carrying out an annual tradition of a reception at the Governor's Mansion for the capital press corps.

How dare you guys attack Katherine Harris again! She has turned her campaign around, and by golly, she's gonna win Jeb Bush's vote one of these days.

Hahahahaha. Harris is a joke. Nelson is going to pound her at the election and I'll be standing there and laughing while wearing my "Nelson For Senate" button.

With Peter Schorsch working for her, she'll turn it around.

10:21PM,
You sound like a fan who loud-mouthed all preseason that your team was going to run the table and now at the midpoint when they've yet to win a game and everyone else knows that the playoffs aren't even a possiblity (cue Jim Moira: "PLAYOFFS!? PLAYOFFS!?"), you're going to blame it on the refs and claim that they are going to sneak in as wildcard and win it all.
No; bad coaching, bad play calling and Harris at quarterback throwing interceptions and fumbling is what has gotten her campaign to this point.
The press have only reported with as straight a face as possible what her campaign has served up and the Democrats haven't even begun to attack her because they want her in that race; they need her in that race.
When the Nelsons sit down for Thanksgiving dinner, Harris as an opponent is at the top of ther list of things for which they are thankful.

Sounds good to me. If Harris wins, I'm leaving the country. She is a proven liar and not a proven leader, I don't think we need another one of those.

Even Schorsch couldn't rescue that woman! Senator Nelson has been great for this state and I look forward to another 6 years of his leadership for Florida in the US Senate!

How is Peter Schorsch supposed to rescure this debacle?

He won some of the toughest Republican campaigns in the area - electing Farkas and Crist, among others.

Didn't he also work for Williams in the St Pete City Council race?
At 6:06 AM, November 25, 2005, Anonymous said…
Yes, but that was a nonpartisan race and Williams was the viable conservative candidate in that one.

Jeb has already made it clear he supports Nelson in this fight.

When did Gov John Ellis "Jeb" Bush ever suggest that he supported re-electing Bill Nelson to the US Senate?

Hopefully all of the high paid consultants for Harris have already been paid. Otherwise...uh oh

The fact the Jeb has refused to run against Nelson, in the face of Harris' obvious weakness, cleary indicates his closeness to Nelson - enough that he has gone against his own party, who have heavily recruited him to run for Senate.

Another "distraction" for the beleaguered Harris campaign is Congressman Duke Cunningham's plea agreement in the MZM bribery case which includes an agreement to cooperate with federal investigators.
Harris' name will invariably come up because of her position on the House Homeland Security Committee and the fact thatin the 2003-04 election cycle she received $10,000 from MZM's PAC and $32,000 from MZM employees in 16 checks of $2,000 each; 14 of which were received on one day.
Federal investigators will most likely be asking about her relationship with MZM and any actions she took as a member of that committee that might have been to their benefit.
True, those contributions are only a small portion of the money she raised that cycle and there may or may not be more to the story. However, in the best light, it is just another diversion whose negative impact would not be as detrimental to a viable campaign.

Katherine Harris better win... or she may come clean on the "real" election results...
Paybacks are hell...
