Jeb Hates Polls, and No Wonder!

Jeb Bush has never liked polls, and he's sure not going to like the latest batch of numbers from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut.

A Quinnipiac survey of 855 registered voters released on Thanksgiving Eve concludes he is generally considered a "good, not great" governor, and that after seven years in office, few people give him credit for improving education or the economy, the two bulwarks of his tenure.

Quinnipiac's survey says 14 percent of voters rated Bush as a "great" governor, while 40 percent said "good," 31 percent said "so-so" and 15 percent said "bad." A total of 61 percent said that since Bush took office in 1999, things in Florida have either stayed the same or gotten worse. Another 31 percent said things are better under Bush.

Bush has boated of cutting taxes by $14-billion, but apparently most people living in Florida didn't get the memo. Either that, or they are too busy coping with rising property tax bills, homeowners' and health insurance bills, utility bills, gas prices, etc.

The poll said that only 9 percent of voters believe the tax situation in Florida has improved since he took office. Wait -- there's more. Sixty percent of Republicans in the Quinnipiac survey said the tax situation in Florida has stayed the same since Bush arrived, and another 16 percent of Republicans said it has worsened.

"Where the hell is Quinni-pac?" Bush replied when reporters asked about the poll Wednesday. (Note: It's in Connecticut, Governor, where your grandfather, Prescott Bush, was once a United States senator). "I'm not going to comment on polls. Next question."

Because he's one of the few to get one of the tax cuts. A minute # of people ever paid the intangibles tax.

If he had cut property taxes or sales taxes, then the people would know it. But the cold, hard truth is that property taxes have soared under Bush to make up for the decreasing amount of funds (percentage-wise) to school districts and local governments.

That's right Anon 10:16. The Repubs at the state level have screwed the counties and schools, and forced them to raise taxes. Thanks Jeb, your such a genius...

If anyone on this board pays lower property taxes now than in 1998, please post your tax bills.

Oh, thanks for the education on property taxes. I thought property taxes were set on the local level, now I "no" better. If u got a beef with your property taxes, vote out your LOCAL officials. Oh, what a novel thought - hold your local elected official responsible. Nah, why do that, just blame Jeb it is easy. As for Quip-pa-what-ever, don't know where that is either, but I'm sure Jeb actually does or should.

P.S. A better shot at Jeb would not be why are my property taxes going up (probably because your house went up in value - LIGHT BULB!), but why as the State budget gone up over $10 BILLION in the last two years! Now that's a shame and something he could of done something about.
