MacKay Endorses Davis

Former Gov. Buddy MacKay on Monday endorsed U.S. Rep. Jim Davis in the Democratic primary for governor. The former lieutenant governor under Lawton Chiles called Davis "the kind of leader who can bring back the quality of life Floridians enjoyed under the leadership of Bob Graham and Lawton Chiles."

MacKay described Davis as "a leader with integrity, courage and principle" who has been a fighter in Congress for lower prescription drug costs, smaller class sizes and an offshore drilling ban off Florida's coast.

"There was a time when Floridians trusted the leaders of this state and trusted that those leaders would stand up and fight for them," MacKay said in a statement released by Davis' campaign. "People knew that Graham and Chiles heard them, understood their concerns and their values, and governed accordingly."

For the anonymous: I mean what I say and I say what I mean. I'm not bought and sold by anyone. When I get down on my knees to pray, I pray that these ugly people on the far right or left wake up. We are all Americans and we are not helping our country by these ugly senseless personal attacks. It is oky to disagree and matter of fact its important for finding better solutions to the problems that face our State and Nation. I'm for Davis because all the information that I can gather on the four - canidates in the race for governor, that Mr. Davis is the best person to unite our state.
To all that post comments on this site, put our country first and your partisan politics last. Be a good American, we have enough enemies in this world.

For the wise-ass Smith intern (aka anonymous), I suggest you do a little reading about what Florida was like when Chiles/MacKay ran the state.

It wasn't paradise, but they sure seemed to see Florida's potential more than these Republican clowns we have in Tallahassee now.

People like MacKay and Graham are good to their word, and their word means a lot to people who don't spend their days on internet blogs.

I was here for Chiles Mackay, and recall corruption among agency heads, a bad HRS that had to be turned upside down, and a lousy education system run by the now imprisoned Tornillo and his fellow union bosses. I also recall a governor who enjoyed lobbyist paid and state paid trips. I do not speak ill of the dead, his intentions may have been good, but his legacy is weak, unless you listen to the Democrat syncophants or lobbyists who no longer profit from Democrats being in power.

I doubt MacKay's endorsement of Davis is going to have much impact.

Well, again, there is hardly an endorsement which could have any impact. Nonetheless, they are signals to the party faithful to vote for this canddiate or that one.

Buddy McKay doesn't have a following in the party. You don't hear anyone longing for the glory days of Buddy McKay. He was and still is an uninspring figure. This endorsement means nothing except a press release opportunity for the Davis campaign.
