Pete Peterson Backs Davis
Former Democratic congressman and Ambassador Pete Peterson is endorsing Jim Davis for governor. Peterson, the former ambassador to Vietnam and Vietnam war veteran who spent who spent six years as a prisoner of war, is scheduled to tout Davis in a conference call this morning.
Peterson, you may remember, ran briefly for Florida governor in 2002. He spends little time in Florida these days but remains a Florida voter.
"Jim Davis is a man of great integrity,'' Peterson said in a conference call from Bangkok "He's thoughtful, he's honest, he's courageous. He doesn't just tell people what they want to hear. He tells people what they need to hear-the truth.''

I don't know if this is the end but it definitely doesn't look good for the Smith campaign.
The FDP Pow-Wow should help Smith but he really needs to beat Davis in Q4.

Dream on, Tenderfoots - Not one endorsement has moved Davis' numbers and the Times has been reporting on his run for Governor as early as 2000.
The reason? Well, a Times article on his gubernatorial aspirations entitled "The Undercover Campaign" dated September 3, 2001 put it this way:
"(Davis') passion didn't resonate with some listeners in Gainesville, but even Davis' brother, Cody, has described him as, 'a little boring.'"
'He seemed like a nice guy, but he didn't seem all that charismatic,' said Adam Platt, an 18-year-old marketing student at UF, where Davis talked to 50 students.

Let Rod prove he can win North Florida. That way if he's right, Democrats win a seat in Congress! And if he's wrong, it doesn't cost us the Governor's Mansion.

McKay: Was the last name of a Senate President and the first coach of the Tampa Bay Bucs.
MacKay is the last name of a former Florida governor from Ocala who served as Lt. Gov. under Governor Lawton Chiles and was a member of Congress and the Florida Legislature for years and also served under President Clinton as a special envoy to Latin America.
