President Jeb

The New York Times joins in the Bush III presidential speculation.

"The first question would be, 'What would you do differently than your brother?' " said Tom Rath, a New Hampshire Republican who is close to the Bush family. "And that's a pretty tough race to run."

Meanwhile US News' Michael Barone suggests that the president would make a darned good special envoy to Latin America after leaving office. See here.

    I personally think America has had enough Bush years to last a lifetime, If he runs in '08 he will not go very far. He has more of chance if he waits and lets the memory of his brother's troubled presidency pass. If there was going to be another Bush president, I figure it would be Jeb's son George P. Bush.

    It will never happen… ‘H’ and ‘B’ always wanted it to be their son ‘J’, but “W’ forced his way is like a spoiled brat, and screwed it up for ‘J’ and ‘P’. So the Bush family dynasty as ‘HBWBICOA’ is over for quite a while.

    For clarification:

    H= Herbert
    B=Barb
    J=Jeb
    W=current idiot in charge
    P=one who will never have that chance

    HBWBICOA=Head Bush What Be In Charge Of America

    when the pathologicallylyingdrydrunkfromcrawford became president*, it seemed to usher in an era of bushes and evil. however, since W has managed to sink to unimaginable levels of incompetency, stupidity, banality and mendacity, i think he has sabatoged chances for another member of the bush/pierce crime family for a longlonglong time. thank you , JESUS!!
    guess everyone was right when they said, jebbie is the 'smart one'", eh?

    You can blame the Lawton Chiles campaign and it's last minute "scare the seniors" calls in 1994 for President George W Bush.

    You see, in 1994 both J and W ran for governor. Both would have won, except Chiles' campaign called seniors the last couple of days before the election and said that Jeb would take away their social security if he gets elected (never mind that social security is a federal level program and Jeb was running at the state level.) So, the scared seniors enabled the old he coon to win one last election.

    When Hillary Clinton wins the presidency in 2008, Jeb will run against her in 2012...

    Newt...that's a quick way NOT to win an election.

    Newt is a brainiac though, and I respect that. But, he pissed off many in DC and left abruptly. That won't be forgoten.

    Now think about this for a minute folks -- wouldn't this be the ultimate political armageddon if Jeb! were to face off against the resurgent Al Gore?

    It'd be the worst of both worlds if Jeb were nominated and the Democrats could do no better than Hillary Rodham Clinton. That's not knocking the Clinton name, that's knocking the politician who can't have a position unless the polls tell her what to do.

    Who cares what Jeb does when his term is up. Since his brother is working hard to go down in history as one of the top 5 worst presidents Jeb;s chances of election are 0. So he can stay in FL and see the next Governor undo many of his pet projects...
