Daddy Tom
"I can't think of any more important responsibility than the example a father sets for his children. You already know that Tom is an extremely hard worker and a trusted public servant who has served our State admirably, but what you may not know is that he is also a great dad. He gives a lot of hugs, and says 'I love you' a lot, and no matter how long a day he has had, his face always lights up when he sees Charlie," she wrote, referring not to the attorney general but to their own son.
The campaign is soliciting personal tales of fathers and family to post on its web site.

TG,
When your son is old enough to understand what has been going on for the last couple of months, how do you think he will feel about being paraded around like a show dog by you and your wife merely to further your own political ambitions? As the glowing parents that you both purport to be, you should be ashamed of sacrificing the sanctity of your family in exchange for highly questionable political strategy.
Trust me, the voters of this state see through your newfound "conversion" and your obvious pandering insults our intelligence.
As a former TG-leaning voter, here's some of my humble advice- try actually being sincere for once. I know that is a crazy idea, but at this point in your campaign, anything would be a significant improvement than what is transpiring now.

Dear fellow bloggers:
Got back from the gym, grabbed a cup of coffee and fired up the PC to scan the news front.
Fathers Day News flash from the Gallager Campaign---Laura says Tom is a loving father whose "face lights up" at the sight of his son, Charlie. FLorida father are invited to celebrate their love for their childran by making a post on TG's web site.
Nothing here offends my strong stomach. TG gave a young staffer something to do on a slow news day. I imagine that step 2 is for the other TG staffers to load a bunch of prepackaged posts onto the TG web site, which no one will read other than political junkies like us... Meanwhile, CC's TV spots continue to run unopposed in the Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando markets.
Termie:
If you really are affilated with the teachers union as one of the prior posts suggests, then I imagine you know from personal experience how the PROS organize and motivate at the grass roots level.
Have you seen any evidence , outside of Miami, of the existence of a comparable grass roots effort by TG?

I find it very odd that no one asked the kid what he might have to say about his father on fathers day. That's what fathers day is about, to express your feelings about your dad. Not to have your wife pump you up.
CC wrote a great letter about his own father. How telling that Gallagher never mentioned his own father, or his brothers or sisters or any family stories about growing up.

The scene was Friday June 16th a little Charlie's school.
In advance of father's day the teacher asked the young schoolchildren to stand up in front of the class and tell the rest of the students what their fathers did.
One by one, the children got up in fron of the class and spoke about their fathers professions.
One doctor, one lawyer, one lobbyist, a plumber, a contractor and so on...
Finally, little Charlie G stood up. He said my dad is a dancer at a bar for men only. He takes of his clothes for money. And sometimes, if he dances really good, the other men will pay him alot of money.
After the class, the teacher asked little Charlie to stay behind. She asked if that was really what his father did for a living.
Little Charlie said:
"No, I was just embarassed to tell the other kids that my dad was the current CFO of Florida, given the job he has done and all".
Happy Father's Day TG!

I understand "why" the Romper Room KIds have concocted the strategy, and I also can see how Tom would have gone along with it, which he has.
My point is, when you realize it's NOT WORKING anymore, that the republican voters DON'T CARE about Charlie Crist being single or whatever else the campaign is tryting to imply, you try something new.
The Romper Room Kids are in over their heads, and have been for sometime. They lack the experience needed to run an effective "come from behind" campaign.
Their collective campaign experiences have been as either front-runners, or reelection campaigns.
Tom should have replaced the campaign's strategist 6 months ago, 5 months ago, 4 months ago, or even 3 months ago, and hired someone with the experience of how to come from behind and win.
Consequently, Tom is in a hole that is to deep to dig out of, and the Romper Room Kids' only "strategy", is to keep reminding everyone that Tom is the Family guy, and oh by the way, wait unti evryone finds out Charlie is single, (wink, wink, if you know what we mean).
IT AIN'T WORKIN' !!!!!
Come up with a new strategy? They can't. They don't know how.
Soooooo, I have slowly been transitioning from having been a strong Gallagher supporter, to a hoping supporter, to a worried supporter, to a frustrated supporter, to a critical supporter, to a "I am giving up" supporter.
If Tom can't realize what is happening around him and what, oh, 50% of the Republican Primary voters realize, and he does NOTHING about it to try and fix it, but merely repeating the same tired campaign strategy, I don't want him to be in charge, nor do I any longer think he is capable of being in charge, particularly if things in Florida ever should start going "south".

You hit it right down the middle. Most voters correctly perceive a campaign as a test of fire that reveals the strengths and weaknesses of a candidate to the voters.
CC has yet meaningfully to put under fire. But, he has, thus far, run a very smart, tight race.
TG was perceived a year ago as the slight frontrunner especially once he began garnering endorsements, lining up big donors etc. Today he is 20-30 points down due to both strategic and tactical errors. From a strategic perspective, it now appears that he made a mistake ,18 monyhs ago, repositioning himself as a conservative. Tactically, he bungled the response to the day trading stories, the BREC revote in Broward etc. and literally made tempests out of tea pots. However, his greatest failing is the one that you point to--sticking his head in the sand and doing nothing to give his supporters, like you, a reason to believe that he even recognizes that he has a problem.
Someone very smart once told me that, before you can learn from a mistake, you must first recognize that you made one.

Every experinced campaign/political consultant I know have communicated that this communication from TG's wife is the stupidest thing to do. It makes the candidate look impotent and has to send his wife to speak for him who he has to hide behind. And people hate when candidates "use" their families in campaigns, it sokay for the public to intitaite interest, but to keep pushing your family on the public is the worse thing to do. Public Officals can get traction from well liked family members "only after" they are elected first!!. Any experienced political analyst knows this. Do you remember the disasater Teresa Heinz Kerry was for John Kerry and note you never saw Laura Bush involved in her husbands campaign. Bucs Fans is right the gallagher folks are clearly ROMPER ROOM kids from political expertise perspective. you state you are a political novice. Thats okay, it reinforces that your communications are emotionally based without knowledge or facts.

You then go on to mis-interpret political tools such as exit polls, you may need to understand political polling better before refencing exit polls to support an argument. Scientfic polls are not done at pooling stations as 'exit polls" an no exit polls have been done for Florida's governros race so whay are you talking about exit polls?

CV,
Due respects my son… but you rely a great deal on repetitive rhetoric and cut-n-paste (err… weak form of plagiarism and attempts at self promotion) in your discussions/posts. You want to match wits and knowledge my friend?
Save your euphemism for the gym and take your best-shot sport. Try and present it directly and succinctly. If you can’t, you’ll just continue to bore the piss out of me and I’ll smack ping-pong balls back at you and expose your game-boy tactics.
I’ll stand by…

don't waste your time trying to initiate CV or the Cristites.
They're just really jealous Charlie doesn't have a wife, or kids, or a girlfriend for that matter.
They keep fooling themselves saying it doesn't matter, voters won't care about such silly minutae.
Yeah, right. Just like they don't care about Charlie's "flip-flopping" stances on abortion, gay marriage and other conservative issues the "base" will care about.
They think, he can get elected on four second sound bites and the mantra "lower taxes, less government, more freedom".
Keep fooling yourselves Cristites. You know it's not gonna be that easy.
As far as Gallagher's past sexual history, most men would be proud of that record. I'm sure Charlie wished people would talk about him in those terms. It might dispel all the rumors about his sexuality.
CV: the election has just begun. To predict victory based on polls from the Florida Chamber and Survey USA when half the state of Florida is on vacation, is pure folly. You and your fellow Cristonians are about to get a real education in the next two months.

Come on CV, take a chance… if you dare, and remember “directly and succinctly”.

You should focus on your own lack of credibilty and "rumor mongering" and flip flop deceptive factles made-up communications. Whats the matter with you Gallagher supportes can't speak for yourself!, always trying to incite other blogger to go along with your nonsens when exposed.
Terminator
The truth of what you realy are about is stating in various parts of the blogs "fraudulent and deceitful" "false" rumors while trying to pass yourself off as some kind of intellectual. Your communications are contradictory, fake, false and fraudulent and you delight in participating in "rumor-mongering", spreading of falsehoods and casting apersion on Broward County Republican Leaders!!. Stop trying to fool people you are simply put a "rabid Gallagher deceiver" you delight in partcipating in the Gallagher nasty rumor campaign. That is to expected of desparate Gallagher deceivers when you know you are clearly not going to win the primary, you have a RECORD of this. Its about Ethics and Integrity not spreading false rumors! on candidates and on good hard working republican leaders in Florida!!!!!!!. You should learn this. Its interesting that you establish yourself as the blog authority on "credibility"? while making these clearly false statements WITHOUT any proof. You should have learned in school that statements supported by "factual" referenced "news articles" provided, re-inforces credibility, your simply not liking the truth of the articles on how awful a candidate Gallagher is does not determine the accuracy of the article, something else you should learn about credibilty of statements made.

..."that's funny (male models)! Yeah, I think that's the reason why Charlie likes Broward so much. Something to do with the anononymity."..
..."Been hearing alot of rumblings from various sources concerning not only Charlie's leanings but that of certain current and former BREC board members as well."..
-------------------------
Terminator, its called the "blogs", be at least strong enough an advocate for your man if he has any defense to communicate it. Its says "ALOT"!!! that you feel you need to try to "co-opt" "accomplises" to try to deflect from "factual news articles" on Gallagher, it definitely says alot. If you have no defense to the facts, which you clearly don't, don't respond, no need to try to co-op accomplises to not participate in the blogs. David and I will always be on opposite team sides until after the primary, and I respect that he dosen't "cut and run" or tries to "encourage others to do so". I don't expect to agree with David, but he stands firm for his man, as do I.

-----------------------
Have the back bone to support your candidate on yor own if able if the facts cant support support stop trying to incite aother s to save your neck.
Charlie Crist is the next Governor!, time to get a clue.

Gubernatorial candidate cheated on first wife, used marijuana
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Gallagher apologized Monday for an extramarital affair that led to his 1979 divorce and also acknowledged he used marijuana "many, many" years ago.
The 62-year-old Gallagher, who is married and the father of a young son, has campaigned hard on family values during his gubernatorial bid, often pointing to his current wife and son as major differences between him and his Republican opponent - Attorney General Charlie Crist, a longtime bachelor who is also divorced.
Gallagher's campaign scheduled an afternoon conference call with reporters after The Tampa Tribune produced copies of a court record from 1979 when Gallagher's ex-wife, Ann Louise Gallagher, sought a restraining order.
"I can't say I'm real proud of my personal life back when I was married," Gallagher said. "I do take full responsibility for my actions being the reason for the divorce. They speak for themselves. I made some mistakes in that marriage and I regret those."
Gallagher's current wife, Laura, was on the conference call and said she and her husband had discussed all his past issues before their marriage eight years ago.
Gallagher said he did not recall exactly when he used marijuana, but that it was the only illegal substance he had ever tried.

Dear All:
There is a lot of blogging going on...At the apparent risk of life and limb, I offer the following.
The sincerity of TG's new found religious beliefs is a matter of speculation. Whatever his motivation, the latest series of polls suggest that repositioning himself as a Christian, conservative is not working.
Most reasonable people will agree that TG did not plan to be down in the polls by 20-30 points at this stage of the election. It is, thus, reasonable to question TG's campaign strategy and tactics. It is likewise reasonable to question the competence of his staff and/or the competence of the candidate himself. It happens almost, without exception, when a former front runner falls this far behind.
It is a matter of speculation as to what will happen between now and the election. Perhaps, TG will win the primary. Probably, he won't. In politics as in horse racing, the smart money rarely bets on a fading horse.
TG's supporters should be justifiably proud that TG has settled down, married a good woman and raised a family. It is completely fair game to contrast TG's family status to that of CC in terms of being a single, non-homeowner. The other innuendo hurts more than it helps, it reminds voters of the old TG and the mean spirited attacks on Jeb.
The purpose of this blog is to share contrasting views. If there were not strong differences of opinion, none of us would participate.
I, for one, will freely admit that sometimes I am full of sh*t. I suspect that my malady is shared by all with an interest in politics...

1catalyst,
If Gallagher was divorced then he was indeed single, which includes never married, divorced, and widowed.
And, no, my point was not that Gallagher lost that bid for Governor BECAUSE he was single (which maybe your point), but that TG believed then running for Governor did not require marriage or fatherhood (which his staff seems to think awfully important now).
I will tell you, as a Reagan Republican (save the RINO charge for Lincoln Chaffee) and as a participant in Florida politics, the simple truth you need to hear again and again until it sinks in: Gallagher's campaign staff IS HOPELESSLY focused on a distinction between the candidates' biography that the voters simply don't care about.
If voters really cared about the rumors about sexual orientation, they would not have elected Crist statewide, twice, and wouldn't have him up 30 points now.
Gallagher is better off abandoning this poor line of contrast with Crist. It shows a weak hand.
