Since nobody seems to be interested in talking about this article, may I take this thread on a related tangent?
Yes, there are folks like the subject of this article running for office. But do they have a chance? I tend to look at two things in analyzing competitiveness: fundraising and makeup of the district (based on past voting results). I've posted some lists on my blog of the districts that look to be at all competitive, and it's very short. House 24 is not on it.
If you're bored, take a look and let me know if I'm missing any.

Interesting site you’ve got… and might I say… well done on you surmise of the races. I especially liked your writing titled “There's plenty of disaffection to go around!” Couldn’t agree more.
Indeed, there are several new candidates running city, county, and statewide. I agree that finance and voting history plays a big role. However, I feel a different impact this season. Along the line of the afrementioned writing of yours… I think the majority of voters are over the Party’s. Incumbents have been, and will continue to fall, not just particular R’s or D’s. This is my hope of course, but we’ll see come election day.

Stephen Gorham is running against rhonda storms for FL Senate Dist 10 ...Stephen is a proud veteran who on his way home from Agghanistan thought there needed to be some changes and who better than himself. He is a strong and proud Democrat running in a very, very red part of Hillsborough county and wonders ... "where did rhonda serve?" I support Stephen Gorham.

Ronda serves in the altar guild and on the ladies fellowship committee
That's all the voters in D-10 need or care to know about.

This is a really interesting article, and I don't just say that as a friend of the campaign manager. I hope to see more about this race as it goes on!
