Is the Republican base growing disenchanted with the president? Are there signs that Republican turnout might be hurt by controversy in Washington? We sure didn't find any among the GOP faithful at The Villages. Story here.
Life at The Villages: Wake up, have a bloody Mary, play golf or cards while having more adult beverages, take a nap and finish off the day with many, many cocktails. In order to do that, one needs plenty of cash as well as a burning desire for things to stay the same. Residents of The Villages do not represent the bulk of Florida's older residents.
Besides that, it is absolutely HORRIFYING to see what that monstrosity of a development has done to one of our state's most beautiful places. I am an R as well as a realtor and I hate the place.
Not trying to attack GOP / Bush faithful here -- but if the Villages and their support for Bush is supposed to stand for anything, it stands for what Life is like in a bubble.
Being shocked to find support for Bush and the GOP trending above poll lines is about as surprising as going to San Francisco and discovering that support for Bush is below the national average.
Frankly, I'm not quite sure what the author thought the point of this article was.
well, is there anything else to say............nah!! on the other hand: 'you can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but u can count on about 35% to be too stoopid to see thru the drydrunks lies!'
The Villages is just the GOP equivalent of Century Village in Broward -- a one-party retirement community. Except the Villages is more educated, more affluent, and right of center. Plus it doesn't have a "machine boss" like the late great Trinchi Trinchitella to tell the retirees who to support.

Sounds like this place is in strong contention to be the real life version of that town from "Children of the Corn"....
