Miami on my mind
I just finished a travel story for the Latitudes section on dining in Miami's Design District (special props to Miami food writer Pamela Robin Brandt for all her insider dirt). Anyway, it's got my spider senses tingling for all news of celebrity chefs descending on Miami. Noodled on Zagat Buzz today and heard this:
Restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow doesn't stay put for long. The latest from the man behind Miami's Blue Door, China Grill and Tuscan Steak is a South Beach outpost of his New York steakhouse Kobe Club (yes, the very same restaurant that provoked Chodorow to take out a full-page ad in the New York Times last year lambasting critic Frank Bruni). Situated in a much smaller space than its New York sibling, Kobe Club Miami will retain the original's dark Japanese theme (i.e. hundreds of samurai swords dangle above the bar). The dinner menu is similar too, with dishes ranging from Kobe beef tartare prepared tableside ($34) to a 10 oz. Japanese Wagyu rib-eye ($240). 404 Washington Ave.; 305-673-5370.
Miami, it seems, is awash in Kobe beef.
