Welcome Maggie Mae's on the Bluffs and Green Chili Indian Bistro
After months of construction and the typical hurdles to open a restaurant, Maggie Mae's on the Bluffs opened this weekend. The Bluff's location has the same great breakfast and lunch menu with a few new creations. The new location at 2961 West Bay Drive will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily.
Medhu and Naresh Sharma (of the excellent Raga Asian Indian Restaurant in Clearwater) will open Green Chili Indian Bistro in downtown St. Petersburg on Central Avenue between 3rd adn 4th, at the site of the old Blimpies. The idea is fast-food Indian, fun and hip, with everything a la carte (as opposed to a lunch buffet) and affordable ($3 to $8). It will start as a lunch-only spot, but will eventually offer a more upscale, multi-course dinner menu.
Bowled Restaurant on 4th Street in St. Petersburg has started serving brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The menu fits in well with their other offerings: ScramBowls, Benedict Bowls, Sausage & Gravy Bowls – all with a twist, as well as some plated brunch items like sweetened ricotta crepes and blueberry pecan French toast.
Not far away, sad news at Tanglin’s (6931 Fourth St. N, St. Petersburg). The take-away Indian younger sibling of Moon Under Water has been a victim of this tricky economy, closing shop after less than a year. For now the space will be used for Moon's catering and prep, with the hope of reopening Tanglin's if things turn around.
