Tampa Bay bathrooms flush with success!
The Tampa Theatre and St. Petersburg's NOVA 535 are among the 10 finalists chosen In America’s Best Public Restroom Contest. Says sponsor Cintas Corp., "These finalists have established a new standard for restroom quality. These washrooms are testaments to their proprietors’ sense of taste, flair and attention to detail, and feature some of the world’s finest materials and customer comforts as well as a few surprises." Go here for a photographic tour of the facilities and to vote. The winner will be announced in August.
Tampa Theatre's bathroom highlights: Designed in the 1920s, features include Vitrolite glass on walls, intricate tile designs, and pipe-shaped sconces.
NOVA 535's bathroom highlights: Private restroom suites featuring full-length solid birch stall doors and Italian mocha Travertine with black granite diamond inserts in a completely touch-less environment.
Hmm, who will ascend to the throne? And whose throne will be stuck at the bottom? I think there's a potty joke in there somewhere.
A Tampa Theatre volunteer shows off one of the endearing features of the women's room: a tiny toilet that's perfect for kids but could be tricky for adults if they've had one too many glasses of wine from the concession stand. Photo by Lance Aram Rothstein
