Progressive dinner in Dunedin

Got an e-mail over the weekend from Chef Jonn at La Maison Gourmet. Seems that four restaurants in Dunedin are putting their heads together and generating some Parisian-style dining enthusiasm in these dog days of summer. Customers will pay $65 each which includes all food, wine, tax and gratuity. On Friday, July 31, beginning at 6 p.m.:

Appetizer Course at Bon Appetit: Crepe Chasseur – Roasted Duck, Chevre and Roasted Red Peppers served with Spicy Framboise and a Glass of Champagne.

Soup Trilogy at Kelly’s: 3 Chilled Soup Trilogy – Classic Vichysoisse, Tomato Bisque and Cream of Sorrel served with a small salad of tossed Mesclun with Dijon Vinaigrette and served with a Glass of Wine

Dinner at La Maison Gourmet: Veal Chop Francaise with Bordelaise Sauce, Pommes Dauphinois and Braised Belgian Endive served with as Glass of Wine

Dessert at Café Alfresco: Parisian Profiteroles – Pastry stuffed with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream with a Warm Chocolate Sauce and served with Coffee Napoleon – French Roast Coffee with Cognac & Whipped Cream.

Timing will be as follows: Start time at Bon Appetit – 6:00pm; Kelly’s start by 6:45 to 7:00pm; La Maison start time by 7:30 to 7:45pm and Café Alfresco start by 8:30 to 8:45pm. Mark Harkness will be the “Tour Guide” for the evening and Carmen from Bon Appetit will keep the master list of reservations.

They're hoping this is the beginning of a monthly progressive dinner. For more info, call Chef John, La Maison Gourmet, 727-736-3070 or e-mail chefjohn@lamaisongourmet.com.
