Untrammeled ground: KFC's new "double down"
You won't find it on KFC's website, but there's much Web evidence of the beast. Like the Yeti or the Loch Ness, it's mysterious and deeply unnerving. There is a new sandwich being tried out called the KFC Double Down Chicken Sandwich. Breathe a moment..settle...OK, ready? It is two fried chicken fillets wrapped around bacon, two kinds of cheese and Colonel's sauce.
No bread, no vegetable matter.
Meat sandwiching meat and cheese.
Where Homer Simpson meets classical French (chicken Cordon Bleu, eh?), in a way, it's a cheeky rebuttal to Bobby's (Jack Nicholson) famous Five Easy Pieces exchange: "You want me to hold the chicken, huh?" "I want you to hold it between your knees."
